Patch Management

Vendors regularly release patches that fix security vulnerabilities discovered in their software. Patch management is the discipline of actually applying those updates promptly and consistently across every device in a business — not leaving it to individual staff to click "remind me later" indefinitely. Unpatched, known vulnerabilities are one of the most common ways attackers get in, because the fix already existed and simply wasn't applied.
