VoIP (Voice over IP)

Phone calls carried over the internet instead of traditional phone lines.

VoIP replaces physical phone lines with calls routed over an internet connection, usually via a desk phone, app, or integration with tools like Microsoft Teams. It's generally cheaper than traditional lines and adds features (call routing, voicemail-to-email, integration with other software) that old-style phone systems can't easily match — provided the underlying internet connection is solid.
